The main identity documents
- Aadhaar: a 12-digit identity number issued by UIDAI, used for KYC and many government services
- PAN: a 10-character number from the Income Tax Department, needed for tax and most financial transactions
- Voter ID (EPIC): issued by the Election Commission for voting, also accepted as identity proof
- Passport: needed for international travel and widely accepted as identity and address proof
- Driving licence: permission to drive, also accepted as identity proof
Keep them consistent
Mismatched names or dates of birth across documents are the most common cause of rejected applications. Fix discrepancies early.
