Chennai, Sep 16 (IANS) Rafath Habib, the 2002 Asian Games gold medallist, cracked a 93 en route to a facile 3-0 win against Manish Khan in the in the Alliance Group-ASCA All-India invitational snooker tournament, here Tuesday.
Rafath, son of former National champion Syed Habib, took 14 reds before ending his break that highlighted the fine touch he is in.
Later, Faisal Khan ran up a break of 81 in the fifth frame while posting a 3-2 win against Harpreet Singh on a day when the top stars had an off.
Meanwhile, Shahbaz Adil Khan, the junior National billiards champion, had a break of 52 in his 3-2 win against Loganathan.
Khan, who came within a whisker of defeating former National champion Alok Kumar last night before losing 2-3, yet again underlined his fighting spirit to post his first win in two outings.
Rupesh Shah and junior National snooker champion Shravan Mohta received walk-overs as their opponents, SN Dwarak and SA Saleem, respectively, failed to show up for the matches. Both Dwarak and Saleem have been scratched from the tournament.
