Lucknow, July 16 (IANS) Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav Wednesday accused Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati of offering money to jailed MPs from the state to vote against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's government in parliament.
Mulayam Singh told reporters here that the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader was sending emissaries to prisons to persuade MPs Atiq Ahmed, Afzal Ansari and Umakant Yadav to vote against the Congress-led government in the July 22 trust vote in the Lok Sabha.
"She is into major horse trading to ensure the government is defeated," Mulayam Singh said.
The Samajwadi Party leader added that though his party had come out in support of Manmohan Singh, 'there is no question of our party joining the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) government".
He made it clear that his party would support the government from outside.
He alleged that as many as 11,500 criminal cases had been filed against Samajwadi Party activists at the behest of Mayawati, who took power in the state in May last year.
